ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA Comedk UGET
MBBS / BDS:
- As per the Regulations of Medical/Dental Council of India, the qualifying examination prescribed for admission to MBBS/BDS is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject.
- The candidates must have passed these subjects (PCB) individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB (40% in the case of SC, ST and OBC of Karnataka state); they must also secure not less than 50% marks (40 % in the case of SC, ST and OBC of Karnataka state) in PCB in the Common Entrance Test of COMEDK 2013.
- English is one of the subjects to be tested along with Physics, Chemistry and Biology during COMEDK UGET 2013 and the candidates should secure not less than 50% marks in English, (40 % in the case of SC, ST and OBC of Karnataka state). However, the marks so secured in English will not be added for the determination of rank list as the rank list will be drawn exclusively based on the minimum required marks secured by the candidates in PCB; further, a candidate is not entitled for a rank if he/she fails to secure 50% or 40% of marks in English, as the case may be. The paper on English language will be of Matriculation standard and test the candidate’s comprehension of the language, the structure of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences.
- The candidates shall complete the age of 18 years on or before 31st December (31/12/2013) of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS course. Similarly, the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination prior to 2009 need not apply.age 3 of 5.
- If a candidate/s on being qualified earlier, and had selected a MBBS seat in an earlier COMEDK UG entrance test and has failed to join the college selected without surrendering the seat at the COMEDK level or if the said candidate having joined the college failed to pursue his / her education such candidates NEED NOT apply for COMEDK UGET-2013. - If a general merit candidate has secured 50% in English and not less than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, his/her name would be announced in the rank list based on the marks secured by him in PCB Illustration.
- If a Candidate has secured more than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together but has secured less than 50% in English, he / she will not be eligible to participate in the seat selection process as his/her name will not figure in the Rank list. Illustration.
- If a Candidate has secured more than 70% in English but has secured less than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, he/she will not be eligible to participate in the seat selection process as he/she will not figure in the Rank list.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MBBS / BDS:
Eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS course is strictly based on Rules and Regulations of Medical Council of India.
The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination as under:
- The higher secondary examination of the Indian school Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than core course of English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education OR other qualifications as recognized by Medical Council of India. The Candidate should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination. The last two years of study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject, must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, in the competitive entrance test, the candidate must have secured not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- In respect of candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribes or Other Backward Class the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination be 40% instead of 50% as stated above.
- Age: The candidates should have completed 18 years of age on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission.
Eligibility Criteria For MD/MS/Diploma Course :
- The candidate must be an Indian National.
- A candidate, who holds M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized medical college (Appendix-III) or a foreign medical degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship shall be eligible to take this examination.
- The candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from the Medical Colleges which are not recognized by Medical Council of India shall not be eligible.
- However, a candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete the same by 31st March, can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 31st March, or the candidate produces a certificate from the head of Institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March.
- No condonation of Compulsory Rotating Internship shall be accepted.
- The dates indicated by candidates with regard to 12 months Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship i.e. starting date, completion date, shall be treated as final and candidates will be required to submit the original Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship completion certificate at the time of counseling.
- The cut off dates for the recognition of the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges, from where the candidates have passed their MBBS/BDS Degree Course and completed compulsory rotatory Internship for the year will be 31st October. The Colleges recognized after this date will not considered.
- Registration with M.C.I./D.C.I./State Medical Council/State Dental Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counseling.
- Some of the Universities are having regulations that candidates who are already pursuing the PG Course in their University or in another University are not eligible for admission till they complete the course. The candidate who is already pursuing PG Courses either through All India Quota or State Quota and are applying for a seat under All India Quota may confirm the eligibility conditions of that University in this regard. Dte. Gen. Health Services shall not be responsible if such candidates are refused for admission. Such candidates may opt for the subject and the college at their own risk and cost.
MDS Course:
- The candidate must be an Indian National.
- A candidate who holds BDS degree from a Dental College recognised by the Dental Council of India and who has obtained full registration either from the Dental Council of India or any of the State Dental Councils after passing the final BDS examination and has completed one year (12 months) Compulsory Rotating Internship in an approved/recognised Dental College shall be eligible.
- The condition of one year Compulsory Rotating Internship is not applicable to those candidate who had passed their final BDS Examination on or before 1988 and hold a BDS Degree from a Dental College recognized by the Dental Council of India and have obtained full registration from Dental Council of India.
- No condonation of Internship of 12 months period shall be accepted.
